Cuando del cielo negras nubes de tormenta
desencadenan la tempestad
que siempre ominosa, se avecina lenta
y amenazan con su crueldad
a esta desdichada tierra,
entonces penetran a través de una ventana
traspasando la tenue cortina
dentro de aquella estancia divina
cuya luz es radiante como la mañana
y alegría es lo que encierra.
De la estancia la tormenta arrebata
esa flor de la alegría que se difumina
y solo el cálido sol la rescata
cuando de nuevo la estancia ilumina.
Con destellos de bondad
sus rayos dorados la tormenta alejan
brillante resplandor de consuelo dejan;
traen sólo la amistad.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
Darkened Stay
When from the sky black storm clouds
Unleash the tempest
Always ominous, looming slow;
They threaten with cruelty
This unfortunate land,
Penetrate through a window
Piercing the dim curtain
Within that divine stay
Whose light is radiant like the morning
And joy is what it contains.
From the stay the storm snatches
That flower of joy that fades
And only the warm sun rescues her
When the room again illuminates.
With flashes of goodness
His golden rays, the storm away
Bright glow of solace left;
They bring only friendship.
