in the shallow night
hollow sounds
disrupt the silence
words unspoken
throb in my throat
your teardrops
slip through my skin
penetrate my soul
run through my veins
with the beauty
of words
never heard
before
suddenly
no more air
to breathe
moonbathing in
menopausic heat
my male muse
whispers me
something:
a bittersweet
taste of reality
to anoint
my thoughts
and feelings
encompassed
with birdsongs
echoes in the distance
awakening
to the morning

Your word economy is breathtaking. It both adds to the immediacy of the image you are evoking and invites interaction from the reader. And yet the fullness of this Moment is completely captured! Applause to you!

Thank you. I am glad you talk about word economy. That is precisely what I like about poetry, its succintness. Guess I just write what comes to my mind.

slip through my skin
penetrate my soul
run through my veins
with the beauty
of words

before – this is so well written. It expresses the non verbal language and or the imaginary conversations and moments we have, as we dream. I super relate. This part has really stunted me. I am actually a bit shocked on how well you portray this, but also, the feeling it arised in me. Well done.

Thank you so much. All these words came just to my mind in the middle of the night. I couldn’t sleep until I wrote them down.

Marta this is marvellous in terms of the silent night that gets disrupted into Romantic moods.
The word play has been meticulous to show a positive morning.
Good!

Some things are whispered during the silent night.
It happens to me too and many times I get to write some lines of the one I am on and some times I just finish it in one shot.
All the Best to You always.

I found this an interesting read. It lends itself to meditation- precisely the sort of thing I love in a poem. It drew me in, then made me dwell on it a while.
It’s brilliant.

Well, I am really flattered by your praise. Bill. Hope you come one day to Barcelona. There are two places with open mics in English. You could read some of your beautiful poems there. People would love them!

That would be wonderful! Maybe I can do that someday! I’ve done some open mics here and very much enjoy it!! 🙂

To me, Washington, DC with its monuments and the National Mall is quite beautiful. Some of the other aspects of DC, however, not so much. 🙂
I haven’t been to Barcelona, but would love to see it someday!
